Educating and caring for children in a nurturing environment is tremendously important to the University of Michigan, enhancing the ability of our faculty, students and staff to contribute to the university community while pursuing their academic and professional goals.

Since the founding of the first University of Michigan Children’s Center in 1983, the Children's Centers have supported the university’s teaching, research and service missions by providing exemplary early childhood education, participating in academic research projects and delivering courses on child development to undergraduates. Our Centers of Excellence

The Health System Children's Center offers full-and part-time programs designed to meet the needs of infant, toddler, preschool children in a warm and nurturing environment that encourages children to learn through hands-on experiential activities. To inquire about enrollment, call (734) 763-3947.

The North Campus Children’s Center is a Reggio-Emilia-inspired program serving children 3 months to 5 years of age. The program supports thoughtful inquiry through play and exploration providing a learning environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and problem solving. The Towsley Children's House uses STEM and the Project Approach to foster children's inquiry and engage in deep, hands on investigations. Children are encouraged to connect with nature and develop relationships through play. The center provides programming for children from 3 months to 5 years of age.
