Eat More Fruits and Vegetables in Six Weeks

There’s truth to the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” A diet rich in fruits and vegetables can help to reduce the risk of some chronic diseases, lower blood pressure and prevent some types of cancer.

The Fruit and Veggie Challenge is an easy and fun way to work on adding produce to your day. Registration opens June 27. The challenge starts July 11.

Track your servings

The challenge is simple. You’ll focus on servings instead of counting calories, weighing food or measuring portions.

Your goal? Eat at least 130 servings of fruits and vegetables over six weeks, July 11 – August 21. That works out to about four servings most days of the week.

Keep track of your servings in the program’s online tracker. As you do, a virtual produce basket fill up showing your progress. Throughout the challenge, you’ll also receive weekly emails with recipes, videos, tips and more.

Register on the MHealthy Portal

Sign up for the Fruit and Veggie Challenge on the MHealthy Portal, powered by Asset Health. The deadline to register is July 18.

The portal includes a suite of well-being resources, including the annual health questionnaire. The HQ will identify your well-being strengths and areas that may need your attention. It also generates a tailored list of resources to support your needs.

The challenge and portal are available to active, benefits-eligible faculty and staff and their spouse/other qualified adult enrolled in a U-M health plan.
