It might be hard to believe, but flu season is right around the corner. Each year, millions get the flu and hundreds of thousands are hospitalized and some die from flu-related causes. Flu vaccination is highly recommended protection.
U-M faculty and staff working on campus, remote or hybrid have several options for receiving their flu vaccination. Employees should determine the best approach for their situation.
Walk-in Clinics for Ann Arbor Campus, Dearborn and Flint
On-site flu shot clinics are available on the Ann Arbor, Flint and Dearborn campuses. Clinics are open to faculty, staff and students only. Individuals must be 18 or older to participate.
Attendees should wear a mask or face covering and clothing that allows the shot to be administered in the upper arm.
Ann Arbor Campus:
NEW – On-site flu shot clinics are now walk-in! Registration is no longer needed.
Walk-in flu shot clinics are available on select days through November at five campus locations – Michigan Union, Michigan League, Palmer Commons, Duderstadt Center and Pierpont Commons.
Faculty and staff covered under an accepted insurance plan will not have to pay out-of-pocket. Those not covered can receive a flu shot for $40 and may pay by check or credit card. The mass clinics are provided through a partnership between Michigan Medicine’s Flu/Immunization Program, MHealthy and Student Life.
University Health Service also is holding pop-up clinics for faculty, staff and students at several residential halls. Walk-ins are welcome and no appointment is needed. Attendees should bring their insurance card. If no insurance card is available, the cost of the vaccines will still be covered. Beyond flu vaccines, these UHS walk-in clinics also offer the COVID-19 primary vaccine series (both Pfizer and Moderna will be available), as well as the updated COVID-19 booster shot.
Dearborn Campus:
Walk-in flu shot clinics at U-M Dearborn for faculty, staff and students are scheduled on November 7 from 12-5 p.m., and November 10 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the University Center, Kochoff Hall C, 4901 Evergreen Rd.
Flint Campus:
A walk-in flu shot clinic is being scheduled for faculty, staff and students at UM-Flint. More information will be available on the MHealthy website in the coming weeks.
Michigan Medicine and Medical School Options
There are three ways for Michigan Medicine employees, learners and volunteers to receive their flu vaccine: from their department flu liaisons, at U-M Occupational Health Services flu clinics and at other locations in the community.

Off-site flu vaccination options
Employees working remotely or who cannot attend a campus clinic, as well as spouses/other qualified adults, dependents and retirees, can get a flu vaccination at their doctor’s office, local clinic or network immunizing pharmacy.
When a flu shot is administered at a pharmacy, there is no cost when either the member’s medical or prescription drug insurance card is provided. Do not use both cards or there could be confusion. Learn more about vaccine coverage through U-M's health plans.
