All sessions are presented at no charge to you by licensed counselors from the Faculty and Staff Counseling and Consultation Office (FASCCO). Unless otherwise noted, to attend any presentation or group, please complete this online form. Space is limited so early registration is encouraged. In our time together, you’ll hear recommendations and tips that support your overall emotional well-being.

Creating Healthy Boundaries

In this session, you'll learn the importance of setting personal and professional boundaries, how to recognize your own limits, and tips for having difficult conversations and communicating your needs.

Do you wish you had more control over your worry? Join an informational and interactive lunch to hear about strategies to better manage your worry so it doesn't manage you. Participants can expect to leave with tools to try on their own.

Selecting a Counselor/Therapist & Identifying Community Resources (Mini-Session)

  • Tuesday November 8, 2022 | Noon - 12:30 p.m.

This session will provide descriptions of the types of mental (behavioral) health providers, an understanding of their listed credentials and suggestions in how to select one. An overview of the styles and approaches that therapists use in providing services (resolution-focused, family systems, and analytical). Also, some sample questions to ask when choosing one will be offered. In addition, a brief overview of how to identify and locate support groups will be provided.

Enhancing Social Connections

This interactive discussion group will explore barriers to social interaction, ways to increase connection to others, and practical tips to get started on engaging in meaningful ways. This is a 2-part series, you must register for both sessions

This is an interactive session that explores factors that influence anyone’s creativity and reviews the stages of creative thought. Through discussion and exercises, participants will learn how to use their imaginations and think in a more flexible manner to unlock creative insights and new ideas for both work and personal challenges. A range of tools will be introduced that help one come up with options we have not considered before to everyday life conundrums. (via Zoom - interactive Discussion group)

The word "trauma" has become a staple in our vocabulary over the past few years, but many remain unsure about the different types of trauma and how they can impact our lives both short and long term. In this presentation, you'll learn the basics of what trauma is, common trauma symptoms, trauma responses, and how to start healing from it.

Discussion and Support Groups 

Discussion Group on Imposter Syndrome

FASCCO is offering a confidential group discussion for faculty and staff intended to reduce the distress associated with imposter syndrome. Group facilitators will define imposter syndrome and its signs and symptoms. Strategies to manage the distress associated with the experience will also be presented. Group members will explore and share their experience of imposter syndrome. The format will be interactive and informal. This is a 2-part series, you must register for both sessions.

*New - Discussion group on Procrastination

FASCCO is offering a confidential group discussion for faculty and staff intended to facilitate the management of procrastination and the distress associated with it. Procrastination will be defined and cognitive and behavioral approaches to managing procrastination will be presented. Group members will share their experience of procrastination and strategies to mitigate it. The format will be interactive and informal. This is a two-part series and participants must attend both sessions

 Support group for New Moms

The Faculty & Staff Counseling & Consultation Office (FASCCO) is offering an ongoing drop-in style support group for women returning to work following the birth and/or adoption of a child. The group is designed for women in their third trimester of pregnancy through the time their child is two years old.

The group will address various topics, including preparing for maternity leave, work/life balance, separation anxiety, familial adjustments, lactation support, baby blues, sleep hygiene, feeding issues, childcare, returning to work, and building a post-partum support system. This offering emphasizes group discussion of participant experiences as well as educational components. There is no charge for staff or faculty to attend.
