Latin American Flavors Shine in September’s Cooking Series
Registration opens August 22 for September’s two-class series. Register by 10 a.m., September 8.
This month’s classes explore dishes inspired by the traditions of Mexico and the Caribbean. You’ll learn to prepare flavorful appetizers, side dishes and main courses. Chefs also provide tips to help you save time and cut costs.
- September 14: Mexico (12 – 12:45 p.m.) – Foods like corn, beans, chili peppers and tomatoes meet ingredients like avocados and cilantro for these simple, spicy and savory dishes. In this class, you’ll prepare street corn and a deliciously simple vegetable taco salad.
- September 28: Caribbean (12 – 12:45 p.m.) – Hispanic Caribbean cuisine focuses on vegetables, grains, beans and fish. However, in this class, you’ll prepare a classic dish without the fish! You’ll also prepare a one pot beans and rice dish using sofrito as the base. Sofrito is used in many soups, stews and sauces. You can even make a big batch to keep in the fridge for quick and tasty meals.
