The U-M community will notice some new names during Open Enrollment 2025, but benefits will remain the same.
Two vendors – Physicians Health Plan and Magellan Rx – will transition to new names before 2025.
PHP is now UM Health Plan
Physicians Health Plan (PHP) administers Michigan Care and Michigan Care Advantage health plans.
The only change Michigan Care and Michigan Care Advantage members will notice are new identification cards they will receive in December. These cards are mailed in nondescript white envelopes, so check your letters carefully.
U-M’s Open Enrollment materials will refer to PHP/UM Health Plan and Physicians Health Plan/University of Michigan Health Plan throughout 2024.
Magellan Rx Transitions to Prime Therapeutics
Magellan Rx, the vendor that administers U-M’s Prescription Drug Plan, will become Prime Therapeutics on Oct. 1. As with the PHP/UM Health Plan transition, this is a name change only. Members do not need to notify their pharmacies of this change, nor will they receive new ID cards.
Members will notice a new logo in messages from Magellan Rx as they switch to their new name, Prime Therapeutics, as well as changes to its member portal. ID cards issued after Oct. 1 will display the Prime Therapeutics brand.
Open Enrollment 2025 communications will refer to Magellan Rx/Prime Therapeutics during the transition.
Open Enrollment 2025
Open Enrollment for 2025 benefits is Oct. 21 through 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1. This is an opportunity to change your coverage in health, dental, vision and legal service plans.
Benefits changes and new rates take effect Jan. 1, 2025. If you’re satisfied with your current benefits, no action is required to keep them next year. However, enrollment in Flexible Spending Accounts must be completed every year.
