This awareness level course will introduce participants to payroll at the university, Michigan Medicine. We will discuss roles and responsibilities, policies, procedures and regulations related to payroll processing. The goal is to ensure that employee pay is accurate and on time. It is part of the Leadership Development Curriculum.
You will learn to:

Differentiate the most important payroll policies and procedures that will help ensure accurate and timely pay for your employees

Identify roles and responsibilities of unit timekeepers, primary timesheet approvers and department managers for carrying out timekeeping and payroll processes
You will benefit by:
- Gaining an understanding of the available resources that can assist you in answering payroll-related questions from your staff
- Understanding the differences between exempt and non-exempt employees
- Gaining an understanding of FLSA regulations related to time reporting
