Healthy Choices for Every Body Program

Learn to achieve a healthy lifestyle on a limited budget with Healthy Choices for Every Body (HCEB)!

HCEB includes lessons and activities that: 

  • Recognize participants’ experiences, skills and knowledge.

  • Explains why, what and how the nutrition education concepts presented relate to real-life situations.

  • Include active learning activities, hands-on practice and demonstrations to help you understand and apply content.

The HCEB curriculum is an online nutrition and physical activity program offered by Michigan State University Extension and funded through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA. 

Who Can Join:

This program is intended for adults living in Michigan who are eligible for supplemental food assistance.

What You’ll Learn:

There are five primary learning objectives for the HCEB curriculum: 

  • Objective 1: Improve diet quality.  

  • Objective 2: Increase physical activity.   

  • Objectives 3: Improve food safety practices.   

  • Objective 4: Improve food resource management practices.   

  • Objective 5: Increase food preparation practices. 

These objectives address both short-term and medium-term learning targets and focus on behavior changes that will help you achieve a healthy lifestyle on a limited budget. 

Bonus: 

Participants that attend 4 of the 5 classes and complete the post survey will receive a $50 gift card for groceries! Please note: Participants can participate once per calendar year in either Healthy Choices for Every Body  or Eat Healthy Be Active.

Registration has closed. Participants of the five-week program will meet from 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. via Zoom, Wednesdays, October 30 – December 4 (note, there is no class on November 27).
