About the Fund

The Career Development Fund for Staff provides financial grants for staff and work teams at every academic campus and Michigan Medicine to help facilitate your learning, growth, and collaboration. The fund was announced on November 17, 2022, to provide up to $200,000 in grants per year for five years. Fiscal year 2024 is the second year of the fund, which is administered by University Human Resources in partnership with the Voices of the Staff program.

Year 2: More Funding to Provide More Support

More than 700 staff and teams applied for grants in the first year, highlighting a clear need for more financial support for career development. In response, the Office of the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer doubled the amount of grant funding for this year. Additionally, the fund has been identified as a Central Action Item in the university-wide DEI 2.0 plan. Check out this summary of FY 2023, the fund's first year.

Up to $1,500 Individual and $5,000 Team Grants

The fund supports staff in enhancing their professional experience at the university by offering grants of up to $1,500 for individuals and up to $5,000 for work teams to fund a wide range of learning opportunities.
